Where have our first loves gone ?

Do we remember that first love that has aroused us, pained us and bewildered us when we were eight, nine or ten years old ?

No one taught us how to love. No one taught us love the same way they teach us to swim, to read or to eat with a fork. And then, one day, love was here before us. And without the help of grown-ups we knew how to feel what "we were supposed to feel": Joy, pain, jealousy and sometimes a little cruelty.

Afterwards we weren't the same anymore.

Boy Takes Girl tell us about the first loves of children between the ages of nine to twelve.

The story takes place in a kibbutz (communal settlement) in Israel. It is told through the eyes of a Tel-Aviv girt (her parents don't live in the kibbutz) who spends a year in the kibbutz school with children of her age.
