Arriving in Germany, Susan meets an attractive man named Walter who intrigues her. Mary arrives at the airport to pick her up, only to confess that she has no job waiting for Susan as promised. While Susan is searching for a job, she finds Walter's business card and calls him. His boss, Barbara Frankenheimer, a television joumalist, is looling for an au pair. Susan begins to work for the family: Barbara, her husband Ivo, and their child Myfiam. Barbara and Ivo are both cheating on each other. As Susan's relationship with Walter develops, she flnds out that he had an affair with Barbara, and Anna, Barbara's main competitor at work.

While on a videotaping tour with Barbara, Susan falls completely in love with Walter. Upon arriving home, she discovers that her Welsh boyfriend, Tom, has shown up. Susan declares that she has no love for him. Barbara forces Walter to stop dating Susan. Heartbroken, Susan falls back on Tom, who tums out to be a real friend. Walter rea!izes that Susan was more than "just fun" for him. Barbara regrets what she has done and tries to talk to Susan, but is distracted by seeing lvo with another woman. She becomes mad and throws lvo out of the house. They all meet at a party. Barbara sees lvo in bed with two men and a woman. Susan sees Tom kissing Mary, and discovers Walter drunk and sleeping in the bathroom. Barbara and Susan join in solidarity: all men are pigs.

When Barbara's program has been cancelled she feels emotionally drained. just in time, lvo comes back and the two are re-united. Susan decides to return home. While Susan is waiting at the airport, Walter shows up with tears in his eyes. Susan tums him away. However, when the plane takes off, she is not onboard...
