"Compound," a sexy new psychological thriller (The Philippines, 2006, 110
min.), is signed for its exclusive world representation by Alex Massis' The Film
Source Company.
Written and directed by newcomer Will Fredo, "Compound" exposes the
underbelly of the seemingly idyllic life behind the walls of an estate home in
the Philippines. Unexpected sexual couplings and subplots suggest a contemporary
"Upstairs/Downstairs," but Fredo’s intense "Compound" hurls us into far darker
territory as passions give way to paranoia, political intrigue and violence.
"Compound" stars award-winning Filipino actor John Arcilla, Janet Russ, Jake
Macapagal and Liza Di?o. The film is spoken in both Filipino and English with
English subtitles.
Edward Jordon, The Film Source VP of Acquisitions, says, "Compound is a complex
thriller that brilliantly reinvents itself as the story unfolds. Just when you
think you know where the movie is going, the writer/director pulls the rug out
from under you. This is definitely a most auspicious debut from Will Fredo. His
images will remain with you for a long time."
"Compound" had its festival premiere earlier this year at the Cleveland Film
Festival. It is being presented this month at the Cinemalaya Film Festival, in
Manila, The Philippines.
"Compound" is part of The Film Source's "New Generation of Filmmakers," a
current list of exciting, brand new (2005-6) movies exclusively represented by
The Film Source: "Upstaged" (UK, 2006, 90 min.), "Sleep ’til you Drink" (USA,
2006, 95 min.) and "Bollywood and Vine" ( 2005 USA, 85 min.). Additional titles
from the USA and other countries will be announced soon.
